THE BIOLOGICAL VALUE OF HERBAL TEA WITH HIPS
 
The article investigates biological value of herbal tea with hips of different trade marks on the contents of ascorbic acid and β-carotene. There it was defined that all herbal tea before infusion in boiling water contains in average ascorbic acid 29–109, β-carotene 1.9–4.1 mg/100g. After infusion of herbal tea (3 g of tea in 200 g of boiling water for 5 min) the loss of vitamin C is from 98 to 99 %.  There has been proved that infusion of herbal tea at lower temperatures (90 and 60°C) for 10 min significantly reduces the loss of vitamin C.  β-carotene as a fat soluble compound practically doesn’t go into the water infusion of tea.
